Narita Boy by Studio Koba & Published by Team17

Megamancave was contacted by Team17 to build a custom arcade for Team17’s and Studio Koba‘s release of Narita Boy in the U.S.

Team17 had released the Narita Boy arcade over in Europe and needed one built within the North America. This special arcade is on display at The Strong Museum of Play, in Rochester N.Y (link). We accepted the opportunity and designed a special cabinet that has become our favorite designs to date.

Narita Boy is published by Team17 & Developed by Studio Koba

This cabinet was built using an Intel I5, Windows 10 PC running on solid-state media and displayed using Nvidia graphics. This system utilizes the Steam online gaming platform for the front-end. The audio is provided by a 2.1 channel sound system, boxed subwoofer and adjustable volume and subwoofer controls.

The Story

Flash back to the 80s. The Creator, a genius of his time, creates a video game console called “Narita One” with its flagship title being a game called Narita Boy. Narita Boy becomes a tremendous hit! Copies of cartridges are flying off physical shelves worldwide. Within weeks Narita Boy is the best-selling video game of all time, critically acclaimed for its homage to 80s culture and exceptionally kickin’ soundtrack. 

Meanwhile, inside the binaural code the digital realm connects with reality. Him has returned and deleted The Creator’s memories. Supervisor program, Motherboard, and her agents have activated the Narita Boy protocol. The Stallions are coming, and the Digital Kingdom need a hero.
